Hypersonic test vehicle fails, again.
The US Air Force this week tested their X-51 WaveRider Hypersonic missile off the coast of Southern California, in the hope of reaching speeds of Mach 6. After analysing the data for two days, the Air Force have revealed the test was unsuccessful, flying out of control and crashing into the ocean.
The test was the final of three tests aiming to prove the feasibility of hypersonic missile, which would have been able to reach anywhere in the world within a few hours.
It didn’t fail, they just proved that their chosen methodology didn’t work (that time). Not learning from the experience is to fail.
